Gemini Ink, San Antonio’s Writing Arts Center, is a nonprofit whose mission is to teach the craft of writing to people of all skill levels, so they can bring their stories to life. We deliver our mission to 6,000 people per year through four programs: Partner Classes, Public Classes, Events, and our Autograph Series. These programs provide our community with multiple ways to engage with the writing arts–from workshops in a variety of genres and for all ages; to panel discussions on timely literary topics; to open mics; to our free book club; to free writing spaces for the general public, veterans, and teens.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Gemini Ink seeks a full-time Public Classes Program Coordinator to oversee all projects and workshops under our Public Classes program, which provides fair-cost, tuition-based creative writing workshops led by published authors at our offices, online via Zoom, or asynchronously through our Wetink platform. This position reports to the Director of Programs. 

This is an exempt, salaried, full-time (40 hrs/week) position with a hybrid schedule. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Communications, or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of creative writing and literary topics
  • Knowledge of local, regional, and national literary trends
  • Comfortable drafting copy for marketing materials that showcase and promote our Public Class workshops
  • Experience with curriculum development and pedagogical best practices for adult learners
  • Strong project management skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent editing and proofing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and interest in building relationships with authors and community partners
  • Some knowledge of social media to work with our Marketing Team on class promotion
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to work some weekends & evenings, as needed
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Eager to learn and work with a dedicated team

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in project management, ideally in the arts
  • 3+ years in adult education, including but not limited to post-secondary education
  • Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, a Creative Writing Certificate, or substantial coursework in Creative Writing
  • Knowledge of multiple creative writing genres
  • Experience working with various learning platforms, such as WetInk, Canvas, Blackboard, etc. 
  • Knowledge of nonprofit best practices 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinating the logistics of in-person, online, and asynchronous writing workshops
  • Troubleshooting complications that may arise with workshops, including instructor and/or student-related issues 
  • Liaising with community partners; venues; donors; and local, regional, and national writers; participating in active public relations & networking for our Public Classes program
  • Managing budgets, contracts, and financial tracking 
  • Compiling, editing and proofing programmatic and organizational print materials
  • Collecting and consolidating workshop data 
  • Promoting Public Classes via email, social media, and other platforms
  • Contributing to program development and evaluation
  • Attending and providing logistical support to Gemini Ink events such as our fall fundraiser, Autograph Series, etc. as needed
  • Training and supervising workshop proctors
  • Collaborating with Gemini Ink staff to ensure organizational and program alignment

 

COMPENSATION:  $41,000-$45,000 depending on level of experience and with room to grow, plus benefits (medical, dental, vision, a Roth IRA, plus PTO and sick leave).
